Scuola Viva goes international with eTwinning
The Comprehensive School “Istituto Comprensivo 2 Vincenzo Russo” from Palma Campania in southern Italy
is Scuola Viva&eTwinning School.
We mind that a project idea integrates ad far as possible into the school curriculum. A good practice can be replicated and scaled, this is why we are thinking about an EVOlution of our Indivisibili experience.
Indivisibili, our Scuola Viva experience, will be brought as a project proposal to the international etwinning contact seminar to be held in Prague (31 May – 3 June 2018).
Can we make a journey to find our roots and ties to our territory to further enlarge our vision and create new connections? Schools involved can start from valorisation of their immediate territorial cultural characteristics in order to analyse on what basis are founded their ties to their territory and then share information to further reflect on the opportunities given by the amplification of relationships with other cultures. Probably this reflection will reveal that there are connections with other cultures, other persons, other homes and so new ties will be found, new awareness that we cannot be divided from our culture and from other cultures.
Conclusive activity is aimed at writing a short thriller/fantastic story/other genre by tracing the itinerary of journeys made by each group, finding out those crossroads who will reveal multicultural evidences and, far more, who reveal to participants the beauty of dividing, separating, recomposing, creating, evolving things in something of a new puzzle.

Indivisibili is the story of two Siamese sisters who live happily and tied together until they discover that a surgical operation can separate them. It is the story of two girls who live in a beautiful and tortured land, our Campania. The two teenagers earn a living by singing at parties and weddings. One day, a surgeon tells that with a simple surgery the two girls can easily be separated.
Pain comes with the prospect of separation, a physical and metaphorical cut with the land that nourishes us.
And we? Could we ever separate ourselves from our land?
This is what inspires the title of our project “Indivisibili – under the same sky”, a module of 20 hours for students and students of the Primary School who will come to school in the plexus of via Macello, to discover with the teachers of the’high school order hidden corners, stories and beauties of our city.
“Indivisibili” is also combined with our Counseling service with our expert psychologist for students, parents and families. The transition from childhood to adolescence is another separation, a transition, sometimes easy to do sometimes difficult. The branch, within the scope of “Indivisible – under the same sky”, aims precisely to start a dialogue with the young people to facilitate the process of change.

Indivisibili is a three-step path and will be carried out in three different locations of our Comprehensive School. It is conceived as a path of discovery and knowledge: of the self, of the other, of the our territory, of other territories. Indivisibili is one of the modules of the project “Stare bene a scuola” within the POR-FSE 2014-2020 program of the Regione Campania “Scuola Viva”. Throughout its evolution it will integrate with other modules (Counseling, TeatriAMO and Coding) and, with the initiatives that the school adopts to enhance its educative offer (e.g. Schoolmovie, eTwinning).
Indivisible “Under the same sky” – Scuola Viva at the Plexus of via Macello
This first part has involved the students of Primary School (10 years’ old students) who, with an expert of secondary school (with a focus on orientation and continuity) and in collaboration with the Counseling module (with a psychologist), have literally walked through streets of the city to discover places that can tell a story.
Thanks to the collaboration with the Association “Terre di Palma”, our students visited the ruin of our ancient longboard Castle, the squares, the Aragonese palace, the Roman aqueduct of Palma Campania.
In a subsequent step, these discoveries have led to a valorization of their own land, and to the discovery of the bond that unites people with places and with their history.
Later, students were stimulated to discover the other, understood as another person, another language, another culture. The parents of the pupils and, in particular, of the foreign students were invited.
A mother talks about her country of origin: necessity, hope, smells and flavors mix and recompose in a framework that transmits the values of friendship and union between people.
Integration with other educational initiatives:
The module also welcomed high school students (12/13 years’ old) who, in a parallel path (with the support of a codocent) conducted a historical research on a noble family from the past of Palma Campania.

Students of the Coding module let themselves be fascinated by the themes of Indivisibili. In fact, they did mini-projects with the works of Indivisibili and created this mini-app on Code.org platform
Indivisibili “Tradition&Folklore” – Scuola Viva in the plexus of via Trieste
Indivisibili promotes the valorization of the cultural heritage of our territory and participates in initiatives that aim to spread the knowledge of local traditions and folklore. In via Trieste, the expert teacher invited the students to participate in the national competition “Carmine Scianguetta” and …. we literally made the stage shake and won the cup as best performance among school exhibitions.
Indivisibili is conceived on the one hand as a research and valorization of one’s own territory, in order to stimulate an attitude of resilience; on the other hand it is also a search to discover the self and the other. For this reason, thanks to the integration with the Counseling module, Indivisibili led a reflection on personal relationships and conflicts. This phase of the module was conducted in parallel with the TeatriAMO module, and the students realized a choreography on a very sensitive theme: bullying.

Indivisibili “Stare bene a scuola” – Scuola Viva in the plexus of Pozzoromolo
The last phase of the Indivisibili module opens the doors of the school at the end of the school year. Starting from 11 June, with a course that involves the students three times a week, Indivisibili works in collaboration with all the other modules of the project “Stare bene a scuola”. In fact, it contributes to the creation of a school summer campus. In particular, Indivisibili deals in a playful and creative way with the theme of the enhancement of cultural heritage and the links between people.
